Q&A

Manufacturing-related issues:

Q – What does your production process look like, from design to finished product?
In our knitted garments such as piques, underwear, T-shirts and sweatshirts, organic cotton is bought in from the EU, where it is picked and spun. Then knitting, dyeing, embroidery and sewing takes place in Sweden. In our garments with woven fabrics, material is bought in from Italy and then embroidered in Skara and sewn in Borås.

Q – What materials do you use in your products?
We mostly use 100% organic cotton from the EU. But also titanium, hemp and leather. You can read more information about our materials here.

Q – Do you have any specific sustainability initiatives in your manufacturing process?
Most of our products are produced in Sweden. We try to buy everything within Sweden primarily, secondarily from our neighboring countries and we always stay within the EU. We have not found a Swedish producer for sunglasses, so we produce them in Italy. Buttons and zippers are made in Italy and hook/hook in Germany. In the web shop under the respective product and the heading production chain, you can read about where each production step takes place.

Q – Where do you manufacture your clothes and why did you choose that location?
All sewing takes place in Borås, where there are skilled tailors, seamstresses and pattern designers. Because the manufacturing takes place in Sweden and is as limited as the county of Västra Götaland, we have control over the entire manufacturing process.

Q – How do you have control over working conditions for those who manufacture your clothes?
Because we manufacture our products in Sweden, it is easy for us to go and visit the factories, which we do regularly.

Q – What quality checks are carried out during the manufacturing process to ensure high quality?
Our self-made knitted fabrics are pre-washed so that the customer does not experience any shrinkage of the garments. Details such as zippers and buttons are purchased from suppliers who maintain a high quality level. We work closely with our producers and are very careful with the details so that the customer receives an exclusive and well-tailored product.

Q – Are there any unique techniques or methods you use in your manufacturing process?
We try to make everything as Swedish as possible on the smallest possible geographical area. The majority of all manufacturing takes place in Västra Götaland county, which we are very proud of and believe we are unique in what we achieve.

Q – How do you keep up to date with the latest trends and needs in the market?
We go our own way and are not guided by trends or seasons. Philip Blank has a standing collection that is available for purchase year after year. The products are developed and reviewed frequently but keep the same basic segment with our own design aesthetics.
